WooCommerce 10.2 Released: What’s New and What It Means for Your Store
Hello from O’Brien Media! We’re excited to share that WooCommerce 10.2 has officially been released (16th September 2025). This update introduces a range of improvements designed to make online stores faster, more flexible, and easier to manage. Whether we built your store or you manage it yourself, here’s a breakdown of what’s new and how to get ready for the update.
🚀 Key Improvements in WooCommerce 10.2
- Product Collection Carousel
The Product Collection block now supports a new carousel layout, perfect for showcasing featured, seasonal, or bestseller products in a more interactive and engaging way. - Faster Cart Block Performance
The Cart block now loads much faster by displaying placeholders (“skeleton screens”) while live data like items, totals, and payment options load in the background. Applying discounts or updating shipping will feel far more responsive. - Cross-Sells via Product Collection Block
The old Cart Cross-Sells block has been replaced with the more versatile Product Collection block. New stores will use this automatically, and existing sites can switch over using a simple option. - Improved Filtering Options
Better filtering is now available! Customers can filter by Category, Brand, and Tag in addition to price and attributes, helping them find products more quickly and easily. - Simplified Block Templates
WooCommerce now uses WordPress’s Template Registration API to make block template management easier. Templates for pages such as “Products by Category” and “Products by Tag” now appear directly in the “Add Template” menu.
⚠️ Things to Be Aware Of
- The final release was pushed back slightly to 17 September 2025 to ensure everything rolled out smoothly.
- The Cart Cross-Sells block is now soft deprecated, meaning it will eventually be phased out. If you’re still using it, plan to migrate to the new Product Collection block soon.
🔧 What You Should Do Next
