Google’s reCAPTCHA service protects your website against spam and other types of automated abuse.
With Contact Form 7’s reCAPTCHA integration module, you can block abusive and junk contact form submissions and login attempts by spam bots that target pretty much any WordPress website on the internet.
The latest version of the reCAPTCHA API is v3. Contact Form 7 5.1 and later uses reCAPTCHA v3. reCAPTCHA v3 works in the background so users don’t need to read blurred text in an image or even tick the “I’m not a robot” checkbox.
Let’s see Google’s intro to reCAPTCHA v3…
API keys for reCAPTCHA v3 are different from those for v2; keys for v2 don’t work with v3 so you will need to register your sites again to get new keys for v3. If you need assistance with this please get in touch.
If your website was designed by O’Brien Media we may have implemented reCAPTCHA for you. If so this may have been at a time when reCAPTCHA v3 was not supported by Contact Form 7 or similar contact form plugins.
