Just as every now and then you need to update and upgrade the software on your computer, your website also needs upgrades to the software that powers it to keep your website operating at its best.
On the 6th August a patch for a security vulnerability that had been discovered in all recent versions of popular blogging and content management platforms Drupal and WordPress was released. These patches address security issues that have been discovered in the way WordPress and Drupal handle certain requests (you can find out more about the specifics on the Drupal website or on the WordPress website). We have temporarily put security measures in place on our servers to prevent any issues however it is advisable that an upgrade is applied as soon as possible.
If you have a monthly maintenance agreement in place with us we will be completing installation of the required upgrades over the next few days to bring your version of Drupal or WordPress up to the current release.
If you don’t have a monthly support agreement in place with O’Brien Media we can apply the security upgrades for you, there is a cost associated with these kind of upgrades (each site we develop is unique so the cost varies from site to site). Even if we didn’t develop your website we can still apply the updates for you.
Please contact us for more information or if you have any questions, we’re here to help!
