Following a review of the latest evidence, the Government has announced today that Swindon will be moved into the Tier 3 ‘Very High’ alert level from 00:01 on Boxing Day (26 December 2020).

Other areas across the country including Sussex, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, the rest of Essex which is not already, Waverley in Surrey, and Hampshire with the exception of the New Forest – will be moved to Tier 4 from Boxing Day.

Play your part

Tougher new restrictions taking effect in Swindon from Boxing Day sends a clear message that we need to act to reduce the extra burden we’re placing on our local health services. Everyone needs to play their part and follow the rules which are there for our own protection and safety.

Traveling

You should continue to travel for reasons such as work, education, medical attention, or if you have caring responsibilities.

You can still travel to venues that are open, or for reasons such as work or education, but you should reduce the number of journeys you make wherever possible.

Walk or cycle where you can and plan ahead and avoid busy times and routes on public transport. Where that is not possible and you need to travel. Read safer travel guidance.
