Rich snippet checker

Enter a web page address and we will find its structured data, show it in a readable form, and tell you whether it looks valid for Google rich results.

Free and instant. We only read the public web page you enter.

How it works

What the checker looks at

Paste in the address of any public web page. We read the page, find its structured data, and show you what it says in plain English.

Finds your structured data

Structured data is the hidden code that tells search engines what a page is about. We look for:

  • JSON-LD, the format Google recommends
  • Microdata added to the page itself
  • RDFa, an older format some systems still use
  • Open Graph and Twitter tags used for link previews

Checks it against Google’s requirements

Each item gets a clear result: valid, valid with warnings, or has errors. We check:

  • Required and recommended properties for common types such as products, reviews, events, articles and local businesses
  • Dates, web addresses, prices and ratings are in the right format
  • The markup is readable, with a schema.org context
  • Notes where Google does not show a rich result for that type

Things to know

A guide, not Google’s own verdict:

  • We read the page as it is delivered, so markup added by JavaScript after the page loads is not seen
  • A valid result does not guarantee that Google will show a rich result
  • For a second opinion, use Google’s Rich Results Test, which we link to with each result

FAQs

Rich snippets and structured data: your questions answered

What is a rich snippet?

A rich snippet is an enhanced search result that shows extra detail beyond the usual title and description, such as star ratings, prices, event dates, breadcrumbs or opening hours. Search engines build them from structured data on the page.

What is structured data, or schema markup?

It is code added to a web page that describes its content in a form search engines and AI tools can read easily: this page is a product, this is its price, this is the business that sells it. It is usually written as JSON-LD using the schema.org vocabulary.

Why does my page have warnings?

A warning means the markup is valid but is missing a property that Google recommends. Your page can still qualify for a rich result, but adding the property usually makes the result more complete and the markup more useful.

What is the difference between errors and warnings?

An error means something Google requires is missing or wrongly formatted, such as a price with a currency symbol or a date in the wrong format, so the markup is likely to be ignored. A warning means a recommended property is missing.

My page passes but I do not see a rich result. Why?

Valid markup makes a page eligible, but Google decides whether to show a rich result. It depends on the quality of the page and the search, and some types, such as a business’s own reviews of itself, are not shown at all.

Does structured data help with AI search?

It can. Clear, accurate structured data gives AI assistants and AI-powered search a reliable, machine-readable description of your business, services and content. It is one of the things we look at in our <a href="/ai-review">free AI review</a>.

Can you add or fix structured data on my website?

Yes. Structured data is part of our <a href="/website-support/seo">SEO services</a>. Tell us what the checker found and we will recommend what to add or fix.
