How to get messages from your website’s contact forms into one searchable Client Connect inbox, using self-service Connect Forms and its automatic field matching.
In this article
Connect Forms gathers the messages from your website’s contact forms, and other forms such as feedback forms, into one searchable inbox inside Client Connect. You get an email and a notification for each new enquiry, so you never miss one. Read more about what Connect Forms is and why it helps. This guide explains how to set it up.
Connect Forms is a self-service feature and is enabled for all Client Connect accounts. It is still in beta, so we are polishing it as we go.
Before you start
- You need a Client Connect account. If you do not have one yet, get in touch.
- You need a form on your website. Contact forms built with Elementor and other common form tools can be connected.
- Know which website or service the form belongs to, so you connect the right one.
Connecting a form
- Sign in to connect.obrienmedia.uk.
- Open Connect Forms from the menu.
- Choose to add or connect a form, and choose the website it belongs to.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to link your website’s form to Connect Forms. Menu and button names can change slightly as we improve Client Connect.
- Send a test message through your form, then check that it appears in your Connect Forms inbox.
If you would rather we set it up for you, or the steps are not clear for the form tool your website uses, raise a ticket or get in touch and we will do it with you.
How your form fields are matched
Every form names its fields differently. One calls the email box email, another your-email. Connect Forms uses self-mapping to attempt to match the common fields on your form, such as name, email address, phone number and message, to the matching fields in your inbox. The aim is to minimise the need to change your existing form field names.
After your first test message, check that the details have landed in the right places in your inbox. If something has not been matched, or your form uses unusual field names, let us know and we will help.
Using your inbox
- All your messages are in one list, with enquiries and feedback side by side.
- Use the search to find a particular message in seconds, instead of searching your email.
- You receive an email and a notification for each new enquiry.
- If you use the Client Connect CRM (also in beta), enquiries can be sent straight in as new contacts and deals. See getting started with Client Connect CRM.
Good to know
- Your messages are kept behind your Client Connect sign-in, not in a plugin on a website.
- Keep your website’s own form notification emails switched on until you are happy that Connect Forms is receiving everything.
- You can tell us what would make Connect Forms more useful through Feature Suggestions in Client Connect.
Not sure about anything? Contact us or raise a ticket from your Client Connect account and we will be happy to help.
