How to invite us to your Cloudflare account as a member, using [email protected], so we can manage your DNS and settings without needing your password.
In this article
Cloudflare sits in front of many websites, handling DNS, security, speed and caching. If we are looking after your website, moving it, or fixing a problem with your DNS or email, we may need access to your Cloudflare account. You give us access by inviting us as a member of your account. This lets us log in with our own details, so you never need to share your password. The email address to invite is:
To invite people you need the Super Administrator role on the account, which is normally the person who created it, and a verified email address on your Cloudflare login.
How to invite us
- Log in to the Cloudflare dashboard.
- If you have more than one account, choose the right one from the account list.
- Open Manage Account and choose Members.
- Choose Invite.
- Enter [email protected] as the email address. Please type or copy it exactly.
- Choose a role for us (see the next section).
- Continue to the summary, check it, and send the invitation.
Cloudflare emails the invitation to us. Let us know when you have sent it and we will accept it and confirm back to you.
Which role to choose
Cloudflare has a number of roles with different levels of access. Which suits depends on what we are doing:
- Administrator gives access to the whole account and its settings, but not to billing or to managing who else is a member. This is the usual choice if we are looking after your website and its Cloudflare settings.
- DNS only allows DNS records to be edited. This is enough if all we need to do is change records, for example to point your domain at a new website or to set up email.
- Super Administrator can do everything, including billing and membership. We do not need this and will not ask for it.
Cloudflare lists other, more specific roles too, and you can choose the most limited one that lets us do what we have agreed. If you are not sure, choose DNS for a simple record change and Administrator for anything wider, or ask us and we will tell you what is needed.
Good to know
- We will never ask you for your Cloudflare password or your two-factor security codes.
- Only an account Super Administrator can change who has access to your account.
- Cloudflare lets you limit a member to specific websites on your account, where the role allows it, if you have several. Tell us which website we will be working on.
- If we need anything else from your Cloudflare account, we will tell you exactly what and why.
Removing our access
When we have finished, you can remove us at any time. Open Manage Account then Members in Cloudflare, find [email protected] in the list and remove us or change our role. Menu names can differ slightly over time. If you would like us to stay on to look after your site for you, there is nothing more to do.
