How to Give Us Access to Bing Webmaster Tools

Bing Webmaster Tools is Microsoft’s free service for seeing how your website appears in Bing search. It shows which searches bring visitors, how well your pages are being found, and any problems Bing has met on your site. To include your website in our SEO work, we need to be added as a user on your Bing Webmaster Tools account. You do this by adding one email address:

Why we ask for access

With access, we can check how Bing sees your website, look at the reports and recommendations Bing provides, and act on them as part of our SEO services. You stay in control throughout: you decide what level of access we have, and you can remove us whenever you like.

How to add us as a user

1. Go to Bing Webmaster Tools and sign in with the account that manages your website. You can sign in with a Microsoft, Google or Facebook account.
2. Choose your website from the list of sites. If your site is not listed yet, see “If you do not have Bing Webmaster Tools yet” below.
3. Open Settings from the menu, then choose Users (it may be called Users and permissions).
4. Choose Add user.
5. Enter [email protected] as the email address. Please copy and paste it exactly, as a single typing mistake means it will not work.
6. Choose the permission level (see below), then choose Add.

Only an administrator of the site can add users. If you do not see the option to add a user, ask the person who set up Bing Webmaster Tools for your website, or contact us and we will help you work out who that is. Menu names can change slightly over time.

Which permission to choose

Bing Webmaster Tools offers three levels of access:

• Read only: we can see your reports and data but cannot change anything. This is all we need if we are only monitoring your site, so please choose this unless we have asked for more.
• Read/Write: we can also make changes, such as submitting your sitemap or requesting that pages are looked at again. We may ask you for this if our SEO package for your website includes improving your Bing Webmaster Tools setup and acting on Bing’s recommendations.
• Administrator: full control, including adding and removing other users. We will not need this.

What happens next

Please let us know when you have added us. Depending on how your account is set up, we may be sent an invitation that we need to accept before access starts, and we will do that straight away. Once we are in, we will check that your website appears in our list and that the data is coming through, and tell you if anything needs attention.

Good to know

• Adding us does not give anyone access to your Microsoft, Google or Facebook account, your email, or your website itself.
• You can see everyone who has access in the same list of users, and you can remove us from there at any time.
• The address is used to sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools. If you have any questions about it, contact our support team or call us and we will be happy to help.

If you do not have Bing Webmaster Tools yet

Bing Webmaster Tools is free. If your website is not set up yet, sign in at bing.com/webmasters and add your website. Bing lets you import your site from Google Search Console, which is the quickest way if you already use it, or you can add and verify your site manually.
