How to Manage Contacts and Companies in the Client Connect CRM

Keep your customers, suppliers and leads in one shared address book in the Client Connect CRM (beta), with tags, companies and CSV import and export.

The Client Connect CRM is a simple, team-friendly way to keep your customers, leads and follow-ups in one shared place. It is currently in beta, and access is switched on per user, so ask us if you would like it enabled. This guide covers Contacts and Companies. For a first look at the CRM, see getting started with Client Connect CRM.

Finding your contacts

  1. Sign in to connect.obrienmedia.uk.
  2. Open CRM in the menu.
  3. Choose the Contacts tab.

The Contacts tab of the Client Connect CRM, with filters, a list of contacts with their company and last contact, and Edit and Delete buttons

The list shows each contact’s name, email address, phone number, tags, company, when you last had contact, and any open tasks. The numbers at the top of the CRM show how many contacts, companies, tasks and deals you have.

Adding and editing contacts

Choose Add Contact to add someone, and fill in their details. Use Edit next to a contact to update them, or Delete to remove them. Everyone on your team sees the same records, with a timeline of activity on each one, so everyone knows who did what.

Tags, companies and filters

  • Tags are colour-coded labels, such as Customer, Prospect, Local or Referral. Choose Manage Tags to create your own.
  • Companies are the businesses your contacts belong to. Each contact can be linked to a company, and the Companies tab lists them all.
  • Use the filters above the list to narrow it by tag or company, or by last contact: Stale (90+ days) shows people you have not spoken to for three months, Never contacted and Contacted in last 30 days do what they say. Choose Clear to reset the filters.

Importing and exporting

At the bottom of the Contacts tab is Import / Export:

  • Export CSV downloads your contacts as a spreadsheet file.
  • Download Template gives you a blank spreadsheet in the right layout to fill in.
  • To import, choose your file and tick Update existing (match by email) if you want contacts with the same email address to be updated rather than duplicated, and Create company if missing to add any new companies automatically. Then choose Import CSV.

Good to know

  • Contacts can also arrive automatically. Enquiries from your website forms can be sent in as new contacts and deals, as described in how to set up Connect Forms.
  • You can tell us what would make the CRM more useful in Feature Suggestions.
