Mobile friendly website refresh and redesign for Wiltshire School of Motoring

When we were asked to redevelop Wiltshire School of Motoring’s website we jumped at the chance, you see, this was a very exciting project as Wiltshire School of Motoring were our very first full-website design customer.

In the years (and years) since we originally designed the Wiltshire School of Motoring’s website, web design trends have moved on and Adrian Evans, the owner at Wiltshire School of Motoring, wanted to bring his website bang up to date with a mobile-friendly design that his customers would find a breeze to use.

Back when the original Wiltshire School of Motoring website was designed the iPhone hadn’t yet been launched, wi-fi on your phone was an “emerging technology” and predictions were that BlackBerry would soon dominate the market. Oh, and everyone was browsing the internet using WAP so “mobile” websites were pretty much unheard of unless you were the BBC.

The redesign

Wiltshire School of Motoring’s previous website was developed using the Drupal content management system, which served Adrian well, but after assessing the options we re-built his website from scratch using WordPress as the content management system due to how easy it is for website owners to update their own site content – a major requirement in a competitive marketplace such as driving instruction.
