As the 2025/26 financial year kicks in we’ve been taking a look at how much our costs have increased over the past couple of year, and there were a few surprises we’d like to share with you to help you understand us, and what we do, a little better.
Lets take a look at how some of the basics have increased in price over the past couple of years
People & Places
How much have our costs related to people and places (e.g. office space) increased since 2023?
We're including everything from printer paper and pens, to the office space and our team that works in it..
Over the course of 2024 we moved into offices with a lower cost, which had inclusive internet, electricity, and heating to cut costs.
We also invested in training for our team so that we could save money by bringing some administrative work previously outsourced in-house.
A 65% Increase in people and places costs
Without the move into smaller offices and the investment in our team this would have been a 110% increase, or more.
Website Design
How much more does it cost to build a website compared with 2023?
From the point you receive your service agreement to when your website goes live, some costs have increased by as much as 210% since 2023.
We've optimised the processes we use to get a project started, we've got the best deal possible for our website hosting and email platforms while still stating true to our green philosophy.
We've even decreased costs by no longer using Adobe Software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Sign) and have switched to an in-house digital signing method for contracts - saving on monthly license fees.
Increase of 110% in out web design costs
Without the continual process of seeking cost savings and making operational efficiencies this would be in the region of 180%
Website Hosting
How much have website hosting and associated costs increased by?
We have a bespoke website and email hosting platform, which costs more but is designed for speed and excellent performance.
We also have a website analytics platform which means your data never leaves our servers, and is only accessible (and usable) by you - and us for providing you with reports.
There are a lot of elements to our website hosting service, not just the hosting itself, so comparisons are tricky, but we've got a rough estimate for cost increases...
Our hosting costs increased by 50%
Most of the reason for the relatively low cost increase is the 2023 re-platforming of our hosting and email service - moving everything to newer servers and a more cost effective configuration.
Had we left things as they were at the start of 2025 we would be looking at a 300% increase at least.
Customer Support
How much more is it costing us to support our customers now than it was in 2023?
Whether it's a question about an invoice, a request for a quote, or a discussion about changes to a website or arranging the logistics of moving a website and business email service from an uncooperative provider, we handle it all.
Support is costing us 290% more
Over the years the line between what is support and what is consulting has blurred.
This is based just on customers who have made use of our support services. It's costing us 290% more to support customer support needs than it was.
