We are now a Disability Confident ‘Leader’!
We’ve got some really exciting news to share with you that we are really proud of here at O’Brien Media – we are now a Disability Confident Leader.
We’d written a blog post on how we’d become Disability Confident ‘Committed’ as part of Disability Pride Month (the first stage) which you can read about here, but now we’ve not only advanced past the second stage (Employer) but now completed the final stage!
This blog post will highlight what us being a ‘Leader’ means and how you can get involved with the Disability Confident scheme too!
What is the Disability Confident scheme?
The ‘Disability Confident’ government scheme “supports employers like you to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to your workplace”.
What does being a leader mean?
Being a Disability Confident Leader means that we act as a champion in our local and business communities.
As a leader:
- We have had our self-assessment on our business validated (shows we are delivering against all core actions along with evidence.
- We employ disabled people
- Have provided a narrative of the activities we are taking in support of being a leader
- Referring to the ‘Voluntary Reporting Framework’ taking action to record and report on disability, mental health, and wellbeing in the workplace.
You can read more on Level 3 and being a Leader here.
How do I join the scheme?
If you are a business, we highly encourage you to join the scheme so that we can all ensure that the working world is fair for all regardless of someone’s particular needs!
You can find more details out about the scheme here.
