Year in Review: 2023 for O’Brien Media
As we close the chapter on 2023, we at O’Brien Media reflect on a year replete with growth, innovation, and remarkable achievements. This year marked not only our 16th anniversary in the industry but also a series of significant milestones and advancements.
We saw team members move on to take on new challenges, and new team members joined us (hello John!). We streamlined a whole lot of processes and added automation where we could to keep costs – and prices as low as possible while still investing in service improvements, team training, and our commitment to being a responsible, accessible, and inclusive business.
Our dedication to enhancing your digital experience saw the adoption of advanced technologies and platforms. We introduced a new email hosting platform powered by iRedMail providing a much-improved email service to customers and we enhanced the accessibility of our email communications with the ‘View in Browser’ feature. We expanded our offerings with SOGo Groupware as a complimentary add-on to our email hosting services, and embraced the latest in WordPress technology with the introduction of WordPress 6.4 “Shirley”.
We grew the consulting side of our website design services, providing web development and web design services to other agencies during their busy periods, and helping several graphic design businesses to offer website design to their clients through our white-label service.
In our web hosting services, we adopted Nginx, PHP, MariaDB, and Node, ensuring unparalleled performance, security, and scalability and completed a replatformig project to move all customers over to our brand new website hosting platform with virtually no downtime. Amidst a massive spam attack on Google’s search results, our commitment to professionally designed WordPress websites stood out, highlighting our dedication to quality and integrity in web design.
2023 also brought us notable recognition. We renewed our Cyber Essentials Certification for 2024, ensuring our operations and your data remain secure against cyber threats. Our efforts were acknowledged as we were named a finalist in Wiltshire’s 2023 Techies awards and were awarded the title of Best Website Design & Support Company in Wiltshire 2023 by SME News IT Awards.
