Why use mobile-friendly responsive?

We thought we’d post a little follow-up to our article about responsive design from August last year where we give an outline of what “responsive design” is as it’s now more important than ever for your website to be responsive and mobile-friendly. In this post we’ve summarised our top three reasons why having a responsive, mobile-friend, website is essential to keep your business or organisation competitive in today’s fast-paced digital landscape!

1. User experience

Giving visitors a clean, simple online experience means they are more likely to stay on your site

This is by far the top benefit to having a responsive website. More website visitors than ever are accessing websites using mobile phones and tablets, as well as laptops and desktops. You want your site to look good on all these devices to give you the best possible chance of capturing the visitors attention (and hopefully their business!). If your visitors have difficulty getting around your website and finding what they want they will simply leave.

2. Google prefers responsive sites

It’s a fact: Google gives preference to mobile-friendly and user-friendly websites that are responsive and fast. If your site is not mobile-friendly or is slow to use, it can affect how you show up in Google search results. A responsive website can massivly boost the visibility of your business or brand whereas a site that is not mobile-friendly could actually be costing you money in lost business.

3. A responsive website cuts bounce rate

If your site is not responsive, you will be forcing users accessing the site via a mobile device or tablet are going to have to do a lot of pinching, scrolling and swiping to see your content. The reality is that most people simply won’t bother and will leave your site in favour of a competitor who’s website is responsive and easier to navigate.

And that takes us nicely back to user user experience. Giving your visitors a clean, simple online experience means they are more likely to stay on your site, and to return to it, rather than switch to a competitor.
