"You may need to use an app password" message when adding an account to Outlook

App Passwords are randomly generated one-time use passwords that provide temporary access to your online accounts. Temporary passwords act as a security layer, preventing the need to share your main account credentials with potentially less secure or unknown applications.

We don’t use app passwords on our email platform at present, if you see this error message then it may indicate that your email settings are incorrect. Please try deleting and recreating the account in Outlook, being sure to choose “IMAP” as the email server type.
